The hose kit is the part of a central vacuum you actually touch, which makes it more like the steering wheel than the engine. These are Clean Obsessed kits, an aftermarket brand and labeled as such, built around the genuine SEBO ET-1 electric powerhead, in 30-foot and 35-foot lengths, direct-connect or pigtail, black or white.

How to choose

Length: 30 feet covers most inlet layouts; 35 feet if your inlets are far apart or there is a long upstairs hall. Longer is heavier to coil.
Inlet style: direct-connect if your wall inlet has the electrical contacts built in; pigtail if the hose plugs into a separate outlet next to the inlet. Photograph the wall plate if unsure.
Color is cosmetic. Pick the one that matches the hose hook in the closet.

From the bench: The ET-1 on these kits is the same powerhead SEBO puts on its own canisters. The kit is aftermarket; the head is not.
