Common Central Vacuum Problems We Fix

If Yours Is Doing Any of These, We Can Help

  • No suction or weak suction — often caused by a clog in the tubing, a full canister, or a worn motor
  • System won't turn on — could be an electrical issue, a tripped breaker, or a failed control board
  • Motor running but no airflow — typically a blockage somewhere in the in-wall tubing
  • Loud or unusual noises — often a sign of a motor bearing failure or debris stuck in the unit
  • Inlet valves not working — evaluation of replacement or repair options for compatible inlet styles
  • Unit turns on and off unexpectedly — relay, wiring, or low-voltage circuit issues
  • Canister leaking dust or debris — seal replacements and canister servicing

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Do you service brands you didn't install?
We repair all central vacuum brands in Connecticut, including VacuMaid, Beam, NuTone, Vacuflo, Honeywell, MD Manufacturing, Cyclovac, Hayden and Electrolux Central systems. Send the brand, model and symptoms so we can plan the visit.
Can you come to my house, or do I have to bring the power unit in?
A removable power unit can be diagnosed at our shop, while concealed tubing and inlet problems need an in-home visit. Send the address and system details so we can plan the right option.
What if I can't get the power unit out of the basement or garage?
Do not disconnect the unit if you are unsure how it is mounted or wired. Send the model, address and photos so we can recommend the right shop or in-home option.
How long do central vacuum power units typically last?
Service life varies with the power unit, installation, use and maintenance. We assess the system's condition and available repair or replacement options rather than estimating life from age alone.
What's the most common problem you see?
Loss of suction can come from a full container, a clogged hose or inlet, a leak, or a power-unit problem. We check the system before recommending a motor repair or replacement. Follow your model's instructions when checking the container and accessible inlets.
Do you carry parts for older systems?
Parts availability varies by brand, model and age. Call with the power-unit model number and, when relevant, photos of the inlet or hose connection so we can check current options.
Will you call me before doing the work?
After diagnosis, we contact you to discuss the findings and proposed next step before repair work is authorized.
Can you replace my power unit if it's beyond repair?
We sell and install VacuMaid central vacuum systems. Existing tubing, inlets, wiring and exhaust routing must be checked before a replacement approach is recommended.
