A dog that sheds in June produces more hair in a week than a wool sweater does in a dryer, and a vacuum that cannot lift it off the rug is just moving it around. These are the Miele and SEBO machines we point pet households to: ones with a brush for the carpet, a sealed bag for the dander, and tools for the couch.
How to choose
- Wall-to-wall carpet: the SEBO Airbelt D4 and E3 (ET-1 electric powerhead), the Miele Classic C1 Cat & Dog (SEB 228 electrobrush) or the SEBO Automatic X7 upright with automatic brush height.
- Rugs and hard floors: the Miele Guard M1 Cat & Dog and Classic C1 Turbo Team, both with the air-driven STB 305-3 turbobrush. Hard floors only: the Guard L1 in Nordic Blue with the SBD 365-3 floorhead.
- Odor: add a charcoal exhaust filter to whichever you choose (Miele SF-AA series, SEBO anti-odor microfilters). They are in the filter collections.
From the bench: Pet hair does not kill vacuums. It wraps the brush roller until the belt slips. Cut it off with scissors once a month and the machine will not need us.
