A bagged central unit asks for a basement bag change a few times a year, about as often as you top off the water softener, and more often in leaf season when the mudroom takes a beating. These are VacuMaid's disposable-bag power units, the SR36, SR38, SR52, SR66 and CS66, for owners who want the cleanest possible emptying and will buy HPB bags to get it.
How to choose
- Motor size tracks home size: SR36 and SR38 (5.7-inch motors) for smaller homes; SR52 (7.2-inch), SR66 and CS66 (6.6-inch, with a 3,000-hour rating on the CS66) for larger ones.
- HEPA or paper: the SR52, SR66 and CS66 are listed as HEPA-bag units; the SR36 and SR38 use a standard disposable bag. Confirm the bag number with us before you order a case.
- Flow-through or bypass: the SR36 and SR38 use flow-thru motors; the SR52, SR66 and CS66 use bypass motors, which cool the motor with separate air.
From the bench: A bagged unit with the bag missing is a filtered unit with no filter. It will run fine right up until it does not.
