Description
The system filter is the post-motor HEPA filter in a Signature Series canister. This one fits the C530 and the C550, and Kirby's maintenance schedule has you change it every year.
What it is
Kirby's how-to video describes it as the post-motor HEPA filter that captures carbon dust so it is not released back onto your floors. It is a separate part from the bags and the pre-motor foam filter, and the canister's filter indicator is based on its life.
Changing it
Unplug the canister, press the filter access button to release the filter door, and take out the old filter. Put in the new one and close the door again. The control panel has a reset button for the filter indicator; the manual says to press and hold it for two seconds after the change.

Is it the same filter as the upright's?
No. Kirby sells a separate system filter for the V530 upright with its own part number, S10004. Check the machine name on your vacuum before ordering.
Does the pre-motor filter count?
No. The pre-motor filter is a reusable foam filter; the system filter is the disposable one.
