Description
The system filter is the HEPA filter that sits after the motor in a Signature Series upright, and it is the part you replace once a year. Kirby describes its job as capturing carbon dust so it does not settle back on your floors.
When it is due
Kirby's manual lists the system filter under annual maintenance and says it cannot be washed or reused. The V530 also tracks it for you: a filter indicator on the control panel lights when the filter has reached the end of its life.
Replacing it
With the machine unplugged, press the filter access button and take off the door. Remove the old filter and discard it, drop in the new one, and refit the door. Then plug the V530 in, switch it on and hold a finger on the filter reset indicator for two seconds; the indicator flashes and goes out. If you replace the filter before the light comes on, hold the service filter indicator for five seconds first, until the reset indicator lights, and then follow the same steps.

Can I rinse it and reuse it?
No. The manual states that this filter is not washable or reusable and must be thrown away.
