The Guard L1 with foot controls and the better handle
This Nordic Blue Guard L1 is the one with the conveniences built into the body rather than the box: an illuminated power indicator, four power settings you select with your foot, a one-touch cord rewind, and Miele's Comfort handle 2.0 on the hose. The floor package is the SBD 365-3 combination floorhead plus the upholstery nozzle, dust brush and crevice nozzle, and it runs on the 3.7-quart HyClean TU bag. Think of it as the enameled Dutch oven of the Guard range: more than you strictly need, noticeably nicer to use every single day, and the one that ends up outliving the kitchen it was bought for.

Registering the machine on Miele's site is quick and we recommend doing it before the box goes to the recycling. Orders over $75 ship free within the contiguous U.S., so there is no freight line on this one, and most orders are on their way in 2 to 3 business days. If you change your mind, factory-sealed and unused machines can come back within 30 days at your cost for return shipping. Anything that has been used is a warranty matter, and we handle the conversation with Miele on your behalf.

What bag does this Guard L1 use?
The HyClean Pure TU FilterBag, 3.7 quarts, with one HyClean Air TU bag included. It is a smaller bag than the CO bag in the Guard M1, which suits a lighter-duty, mostly hard-floor house.
Why is the Nordic Blue L1 different from the other Guard L1 models?
This package is about the machine rather than the attachments: the four foot-controlled power modes, the one-touch cord rewind and the Comfort handle 2.0 are listed here. The AllFloor and Cat & Dog packages are defined by what is in the box instead: a second floor tool, or a turbobrush and an odor filter.
Can I add a turbobrush later?
Yes. Miele sells the STB 305-3 turbobrush and other tools separately, and we can fit one for you. Many customers start with this package and add the turbobrush after the first winter of tracked-in grit.
How loud is it?
Miele rates it at 75 decibels. In practice you can carry on a conversation in the same room at normal volume, which is not something we say about most uprights.
