Why a pair makes sense
Miele recommends replacing the installed filter annually. With 2 filters in the pack, next year's is already in the house.

Guard S1, M1 and L1; Complete C2 and C3; Compact C1 and C2. Confirm against the label on your machine.
Same filter as the single?
It is the same 50-series HEPA format, packed two to a box. If you only need one, the single SF-HA 50 does the job. Do not confuse either with the 30-series filters made for the Classic C1, Complete C1 and Dynamic U1.
Anything to watch when fitting?
Match the filter reference and position in your manual, and keep separate pre-motor and fine-dust filters in place as your model requires.
Can I rinse it and reuse it?
Do not assume a cartridge is washable; follow the manual.
Storing the spare
Leave the second filter in its wrapper until the replacement date, in a drawer away from dust and moisture. Mark the install date on a calendar so the yearly change is not forgotten, and quote reference 12868960 if you need another pack.
