Sizing an air purifier by square footage is like sizing a dehumidifier for a basement: an undersized unit runs all day and never catches up. IDEAL's AP Pro line comes in three sizes, the AP40 Pro for about 400 square feet, the AP80 Pro for 800 and the AP140 Pro for 1,400, and each has a matching 360-degree replacement filter in this collection. We sell and support IDEAL.

How to choose

  • Bedroom or office: AP40 Pro. Open living area: AP80 Pro. Open-plan first floor or a waiting room: AP140 Pro.
  • Round up if the space opens into other rooms. Doorways count.
  • Buy the filter with the unit. The AP30/40 Pro filter, the AP60/80 Pro filter and the AP140 Pro filter are each specific to their size.

From the bench: A vacuum shop sells air purifiers because the fine dust a vacuum stirs up and the fine dust a purifier catches are the same dust. Run one in the room you just vacuumed.
