Description
The SEBO SOFTCASE CE12 Lightweight (model 94251AM) is a corded, bagged upright with a 12.2-inch power head and a soft textile bag housing. It is built around SEBO's impeller design: a belt-driven impeller moves the air and a second belt drives the brush, with all the electrical parts in the power head.
It is a plain floor machine for people who want something light to push. There is a handle, a bag housing and a power head, and very little else to manage.
Who is the SOFTCASE CE12 for?
It suits owners who want a light upright for carpet and hard floors and don't need a hose or attachments on board. SEBO's manual lists the handle, bag housing, power head, filter bag and brush roller, with no suction hose, wand or tools.
It is not the pick for everyone. If you want an on-board hose and tools for stairs and furniture, an upright such as the 300 Mechanical is the closer match.
Day-to-day use
- Light to push. SEBO's manual lists 12.8 lb without the cord.
- Low to the floor. A 6-inch profile slides under beds and furniture, and SEBO says rubber-coated wheels protect floors while the bumper around the power head protects furniture and walls.
- Four brush heights. Set the height by hand for the floor you're on. SEBO says the brush lifts off the floor when the handle is in its upright, locked position.
- Foot switch on the power head. You start and stop it with your foot.
- Soft start and automatic shut-off. The power ramps up gradually, and SEBO says the machine switches itself off in case of a blockage or overload.
- Simple upkeep. The brush roller comes out without tools. A flap on the underside of the power head gives access to the air channel for clearing blockages, and a replaceable sealing strip helps stop dust and debris kicking back on hard floors.
The textile bag housing and bags
The bag housing is a soft textile case with a two-way zipper. SEBO describes the material as shockproof, lightweight and gentle on walls and furniture. Inside is a sealable four-layer electrostatic filter bag, 1.4 gallons (5.5 liters), with a hygiene cap that keeps the dust sealed in when you remove it. The replacement bags are SEBO 75175AM, eight bags to a box.
What do I need to know before ordering?
- Some assembly. SEBO's manual has you fit the handle grip to the handle tube and secure the handle assembly with the supplied screws, using a Phillips screwdriver that is not included.
- Filter bags. The manual's set-up steps include installing a filter bag. Replacement packs are SEBO 75175AM.
- No hose or tools. SEBO lists none for this model.

Bags, filters and care
The SOFTCASE CE12 takes SEBO 75175AM filterbox bags. Stick with the bags listed for this model. SEBO's manual says not to re-use bags or wash the filters, and to unplug before clearing the brush or the air channel. Optional tune-ups are available at our Avon, CT shop.
Warranty
SEBO's 2024 brochure for the SOFTCASE CE12 shows a 3-year warranty: 3 years on the motor, 3 years on parts and 3 years on labor, along with a lifetime belt warranty. SEBO says its standard coverage (7 years on motors, 5 years on non-wear parts and labor) applies to all of its models except the SOFTCASE CE12 and BALANCE A1. Ask us for the written terms before you order.
