Every model uses the same flexible 3-in-1 Triflex concept. The meaningful differences are the included floorheads, wet-cleaning capability, battery count, and price. One floorhead detail is easy to miss: the base HX3 comes with the MultiFloor XXL SEB 431 electrobrush, while the other five packages use the SEB 436 version with a BrilliantLight LED front light.

Runtime figures are Miele's maximum ratings and vary with the power level, floorhead, floor type, and battery condition. Powered floorheads and higher suction settings use more energy than the maximum-runtime test conditions. On Miele's HX3 product sheets, the 70-minute figure applies to the handheld PowerUnit alone on the lowest power level, without the MultiFloor XXL electrobrush; with electrical accessories, Miele lists up to 38 minutes on low and up to 15 minutes on high per battery.

What is new on the Triflex HX3?

Miele's own comparison of the Triflex generations says the HX3 adds stronger performance, longer battery runtime, a timed Boost mode, a display that shows remaining runtime in minutes, and the option of AquaTwister wet cleaning. Automatic floor detection is not new—Miele also lists it on the Triflex HX2 Cat & Dog—but every HX3 package now includes it.

• HEPA Lifetime Filter: Miele states 99.999% exhaust air filtration (IEC 62885-4:2020; HEPA per EN 1822-1:2019).
• More than 99.99% dust pickup: Miele's stated pickup result for the HX3 system under its test conditions, which its product sheet ties to hard floors with crevices on the HI power level (IEC 62885-4:2024).
• About 8 pounds: Miele lists 8 lb (3.6 kg) for every HX3 package; model weight can vary slightly with the fitted accessory.
• About four hours to recharge: Miele lists a 240-minute recharging time; plan around a full charge for longer cleaning sessions.

How Miele Triflex HX3 Aqua wet cleaning works

The HX3 Aqua and HX3 Plus Aqua include Miele's AquaTwister floorhead, along with two AquaPads and 500 ml of Miele FloorClean floor cleaner, according to their product sheets. AquaTwister uses two rotating cleaning pads, a 300 ml water tank, three water levels, and a 360-degree SpotLight to reveal dirt on the floor.

The reusable Aqua pads are machine washable according to Miele's care instructions; replacement Miele AquaPads are sold separately. AquaTwister cleaning is a separate step from dry vacuuming, so shoppers expecting one-pass simultaneous vacuum-and-mop operation should understand that distinction before buying.

If you choose a dry-only HX3 now, Miele says AquaTwister works with every Triflex HX3 and can be added later as a separate accessory. It does not fit the Triflex HX1 or HX2.

Do you need 70 minutes or 140 minutes?

The “up to” figure is not the runtime you should expect at every setting. Carpet resistance, powered accessories, Boost, and maximum suction reduce battery duration. If uninterrupted cleaning matters, the second battery is a practical upgrade—not just a specification. Best HX3 choices for carpets, hard floors, and pets

• Mostly carpet with some hard floors: start with the base HX3. Its MultiFloor XXL head and FloorDetect cover the broadest everyday use at the lowest price.

• Pets on furniture and stairs: choose Cat & Dog for the compact powered upholstery brush. A floorhead alone cannot replace that tool's reach and agitation. Neither Plus package includes it.

• Large home with extensive sealed hard flooring: choose Plus Aqua for the longest runtime and the widest tool package.
