Runtime figures are Miele's maximum ratings and vary with the power level, floorhead, floor type, and battery condition. Powered floorheads and higher suction settings use more energy than the maximum-runtime test conditions.
What is new on the Triflex HX3?
FloorDetect
The floorhead detects changes between carpet and hard flooring and adjusts its brush-roll behavior automatically. That reduces the need to stop and change settings as you move through the home.
10-second Boost mode
Press Boost for a short 42% power increase when you reach a stubborn patch of debris. The timed burst gives you added pickup without leaving the vacuum at maximum power for the full session.
Twist2open dust bin
The 0.5-liter bin is designed for quick emptying, while the updated display helps communicate vacuum status. Routine filter care still matters for airflow and battery performance.
Three cleaning positions
Use Comfort mode for easier floor maneuvering, Reach mode for low furniture and overhead work, or the compact handheld setup for stairs and upholstery.
- HEPA Lifetime Filter: Miele states 99.999% filtration of fine particles and allergens from the exhaust air.
- Up to 99.99% dust pickup: Miele's stated pickup result for the HX3 system under its test conditions.
- About 8 pounds: model weight can vary slightly with the fitted accessory.
- About four hours to recharge: plan around a full charge for longer cleaning sessions.
How Miele Triflex HX3 Aqua wet cleaning works
The HX3 Aqua and HX3 Plus Aqua include Miele's AquaTwister floorhead. It uses two rotating cleaning pads, a 300 ml water tank, adjustable water flow, and a 360-degree light to reveal dirt on the floor.
The reusable Aqua pads are machine washable according to Miele's care instructions. AquaTwister cleaning is a separate step from dry vacuuming, so shoppers expecting one-pass simultaneous vacuum-and-mop operation should understand that distinction before buying.

The HX3, Hardfloor, Cat & Dog, and Aqua each include one battery. They are the better value for apartments, smaller homes, quick daily pickups, and shoppers comfortable recharging between longer sessions.
Up to 140 minutes
The Plus and Plus Aqua include two batteries. Choose one when you clean a larger home in a single session or want a charged spare ready instead of pausing to recharge.
The “up to” figure is not the runtime you should expect at every setting. Carpet resistance, powered accessories, Boost, and maximum suction reduce battery duration. If uninterrupted cleaning matters, the second battery is a practical upgrade—not just a specification.
Best HX3 choices for carpets, hard floors, and pets
- Mostly carpet with some hard floors: start with the $849 HX3. Its Multi Floor XXL head and FloorDetect cover the broadest everyday use at the lowest price.
- Mostly wood, tile, or luxury vinyl: choose Hardfloor for the dedicated soft roller, or Aqua if you also want wet cleaning on compatible sealed floors.
- Pets on furniture and stairs: choose Cat & Dog for the compact powered upholstery brush. A floorhead alone cannot replace that tool's reach and agitation.
- Large home, no wet cleaning needed: choose Plus for two batteries and both general-purpose and dedicated hard-floor tools.
- Large home with extensive sealed hard flooring: choose Plus Aqua for the longest runtime and the widest tool package.
