Newer reference
Miele lists 12509450 as the successor to 10721260. Confirm your model and the connection details before you use the newer number in its place.
When it is the right buy
When the original hose on your SD assembly is damaged. Match the hose connection to that original assembly, and check both end connections and the exact material number.
Length is not a guide
Another Miele hose of similar length may use different fittings, so a tape measure will not tell you if it clicks into an S6 canister. The material number is the safer guide.
Color and cuffs
Neither is proof of a match. Look at both ends, and at whether your machine depends on electrical contacts or handle controls. A straight-suction hose does not replace an electric one.
Reading the designation
The SD in the name refers to the suction assembly Miele fits to these canisters. When you compare, look at where the hose meets the wand handle and where it meets the canister; both ends need to agree, not just one. If yours already shows 12509450, you are looking at the newer reference.
