The SR66 is a 120-volt bagged power unit built around a 6.6-inch two-stage tangential bypass motor and a multi-layer disposable HEPA bag. It is a tall unit, 36 inches, and that height is the first thing to check if you are replacing a compact unit in an existing mounting space. Check the height before you order

The body is 12⅞ inches across and 36 inches high. Add the manual's minimum six inches of clearance from nearby surfaces and room to pull the canister for service. In a finished basement with a drop ceiling or a garage with a low beam, that vertical measurement matters more than the square-footage rating.

Built to run for years

VacuMaid pairs the motor with a stated life of approximately 1,500 hours and lists the SR66 as Hide-A-Hose compatible. The motor is an Ametek Lamb high-airwatt design. Its sound rating with the exhaust vented is 58 dB.

Bags to reorder

The SR66 takes the HPB2H HEPA-style bag. A bag is a consumable, so do not empty and reuse one. Unplug the unit, open the canister, ease the used collar off the inlet stem, seal the bag with its flap and lift it out. Open the replacement fully, seat its collar in the stem groove and close the lid with the protector plate and safety screen still underneath.

In the first weeks, look in weekly. A bag that is coated with fine dust will hold back airflow before it feels full. If one leaks, clean the affected screens as the manual describes before restarting.

Electrical notes

Plan a grounded 120-volt supply with an outlet and circuit matched to the rating plate. VacuMaid lists a 14.0-amp maximum current. Fasten the bracket to solid framing and connect the tubing and low-voltage inlet wiring as the manual directs.

The listed 663 air watts, 139 CFM and 132 inches of sealed water lift are three separate maximum measurements. The SR66 has more air watts than the shorter SR52 but less sealed lift, which is a reminder that no single number predicts how a floorhead will perform.

Warranty

In an eligible U.S. single-family home, the original owner holds a lifetime limited warranty on the canister and 10 years on the motor and internal electrical parts. The canister term ends once that owner no longer owns the system or the original building, and commercial use is covered for 90 days. Worn motor brushes, consumables, installation materials and installation work are excluded, and transportation or removal charges may fall to the owner. Keep the purchase record.

Questions about the SR66

Is it the same as the SR46?

The motor ratings match, but the SR46 is an inverted-filter unit you empty, while the SR66 uses a bag. Their sizing guides also differ: 10,000 square feet here, 9,500 there.
