The IDEAL AP80 Pro is the one we suggest for the room the family actually lives in, rated for 800 square feet at four air changes an hour under an 8.2-foot ceiling with 470 CFM of airflow. The filter is a 360-degree multi-layer HEPA and activated-carbon cartridge, the unit stands 26.3 inches tall, and noise runs from 18.7 dB on night mode to 63.4 dB on turbo. Auto, manual, turbo and night modes, a 1/2/4/8-hour timer, child lock and the IDEAL AIR PRO app round it out.

Why we like it

Think twice if
- The room is a bedroom under 400 square feet. The AP40 Pro does the same job at a lower price and a smaller footprint.
- You want to cover a whole open floor or move the unit between rooms. The AP140 Pro is rated for 1,400 square feet and rolls on casters.
- The household runs only a 5 GHz network. The app needs 2.4 GHz; the controls on the unit work either way.

Manufacturer warranty applies; we handle the claim with you. Orders of $75 and up ship free to the contiguous U.S., so the AP80 Pro does, and most orders leave within 2 to 3 business days. Returns are accepted within 30 days on factory-sealed, unused units with return shipping paid by the buyer; once opened, a problem is a manufacturer warranty matter we handle together.

How big a room will it handle?
800 square feet at four air changes per hour with an 8.2-foot ceiling. A bigger room still gets cleaner air, just fewer changes per hour.
What does the filter catch?
The multi-layer HEPA stages handle dust, pollen and pet dander; the activated-carbon layer handles cooking and pet odors. It is one 360-degree cartridge.
How noisy is turbo?
63.4 dB, about a normal conversation. Night mode is 18.7 dB, which you will not hear.
Can I control it from my phone?
Yes, through the IDEAL AIR PRO app over a constant 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection. Auto, manual, turbo, night mode, timer and child lock also work from the panel on the unit.
