Choosing the head and setting

The TurboTeQ roller turns with the vacuum’s airflow, rather than a separate electric motor. Adjust its air-relief control if it grips the carpet too strongly. Fit the AllTeQ for appropriate hard floors or surfaces where brushing is not wanted; extend or retract its bristles with the head’s foot switch.

The +/- footswitches change suction without bending down. Lower power helps keep a curtain, cushion or rug from sealing tightly against the tool. The illuminated display indicates the selected setting.

Reach, parking and bag changes

The 36-foot operating radius includes more than the power cord alone; the listed cord is 24 feet. The telescopic wand adjusts to your height and the small nozzles handle furniture, skirting and crevices. Four-point caster support lets the body follow the hose. Park a compatible suction floorhead on the body for a pause, and use the one-touch cord rewind while guiding the plug.

The ComfortFit bag connection positions the TU bag in its holder. Replace it when the bag indicator shows restricted airflow, first checking for a blocked hose or tool if the bag is not full. Do not reuse a disposable bag or force the compartment closed over a poorly seated collar.

Correct filters and ongoing care

This Guard L1 Cat & Dog uses TU bags; CO bags from Guard M1 are a different fit. Its supplied Active AirClean configuration should not be described as supplied HEPA filtration. The Active AirClean cartridge adds activated charcoal for household odors; it still needs replacement as directed.

The compatible HEPA replacement is the SF-HA 50 family, currently SF-HA 50-1. Use the filter type intended for this Guard series and follow the manual’s filter-holder instructions when changing configurations. Keep the motor-protection filter in place, replace disposable filters on schedule and unplug before removing hair or clearing a blockage.

Warranty and service

Miele’s current U.S. limited warranty lists 3 years for this household model, subject to its terms. Keep the purchase receipt for a claim. Routine maintenance and normal wear are excluded; commercial use has separate terms.
