VacuMaid SR60 Inverted Bag Central Vacuum - 8.4" 2-Stage Tangential By-Pass Motor

The SR60 is a large-capacity 120-volt power unit with an 8.4-inch two-stage tangential bypass motor and a 38-quart collection can under a permanent inverted filter. VacuMaid's approximate sizing guide goes up to 12,000 square feet. It is a physically big machine, and it makes sense for a larger home whose utility space can hold it.

Make sure you have the room

The SR60 is 16⅛ inches across and 43½ inches high, before you add six inches of clearance on each side and the working space to lower the can. VacuMaid describes the 14-inch canister as having improved filtration and being designed for its high-airwatt motors.

Power and sound

Plan on a grounded 120-volt supply matched to the rating plate. VacuMaid lists a 15-amp maximum current, so check the circuit rather than relying on voltage alone. The motor is an Ametek Lamb design with a stated life of approximately 1,500 hours, and the unit is Hide-A-Hose compatible. VacuMaid lists a sound rating of 68 dB with vented exhaust, so think about where it will hang.

Published maximums are 760 air watts, 137 CFM and 150 inches of sealed water lift. They are separate peak ratings. Long pipe runs, bends, leaks, filter condition and the hose you pick all change what you get at the tool.

Emptying and filter care

• Can: check it weekly at first to learn your fill rate, and empty it before it is more than three-quarters full. Unplug, support the can, release the latches and seat it squarely on refitting.
• Filter: clean it about three or four times a year, or whenever you empty the can. Put a large plastic bag around the lower section and gently shake or brush the filter, leaving it attached.
• Replacement: the catalog lists RB-24W for this model. Order by exact model reference.

The permanent filter is not a supplied HEPA cartridge, and a disposable-bag procedure does not apply. When airflow falls off, inspect the filter and the container seal before anything else.

Warranty

For eligible U.S. single-family installations, the original owner gets a lifetime limited warranty on the canister, ending when that owner no longer owns the system or the original building, plus 10 years on the motor and internal electrical components. Commercial use has a 90-day term. Worn motor brushes, consumables, installation materials and installation work are excluded, and transportation and removal-and-reinstall charges can remain the owner's. Keep the purchase record.

How is it different from the SR62?

Same 8.4-inch motor size and cabinet, but the SR62 runs on 240 volts and VacuMaid lists a different motor life, around 1,100 hours.

Is a 120-volt circuit enough?

It must match the rating plate and the 15-amp maximum current. Have your installer confirm it.
