VacuMaid SR62 Inverted Bag Central Vacuum - 8.4" 240V Tangential By-Pass Motor

The SR62 is a single-motor, 240-volt power unit built around an 8.4-inch two-stage tangential bypass motor, a permanent inverted filter and a 38-quart can. VacuMaid positions it as a one-motor replacement for double-motor units and lists the motor's life at approximately 1,100 hours or more. Its home-size guide is up to 12,000 square feet.

Start with the electrical service

The SR62 needs a correctly installed 240-volt supply and cannot be used as a plug-in replacement for a 120-volt unit. Match the outlet, grounding and circuit to the exact rating plate and the installation instructions. VacuMaid lists a 9.6-amp maximum current.

Once power is sorted, allow the manual's six inches of clearance around the unit, plus room to service the can. Fasten the bracket to solid framing and connect the tubing and low-voltage inlet wiring as directed.

The motor figures are 775 air watts, 154 CFM and 141 inches of sealed water lift. They are separate maximums, not simultaneous readings at a cleaning tool. Pipe length, bends, leaks and hose choice change what you feel.

Looking after the can and filter

The removable can sits below the permanent filter. Check it weekly at first and empty it before it is more than three-quarters full. Unplug, support the can while you release the latches and refit it squarely against the gasket.

The manual says to clean the inverted filter about three or four times a year, or whenever you empty the can. Contain the lower section in a large plastic bag and gently shake or brush the filter, leaving it attached. Do not use a disposable-bag procedure, and do not assume the permanent filter is a supplied HEPA cartridge. Before ordering a replacement filter for the SR62, have the exact model and serial number checked. If airflow changes, inspect the filter and the can seal.

Warranty

VacuMaid's coverage applies to eligible single-family homes in the U.S. The original owner has a lifetime limited warranty on the canister, which ends once that owner no longer owns the system or the original building, and 10 years on the motor and internal electrical components. Commercial use is a 90-day term. Brush wear, consumables, installation materials and installation work aren't covered, and transportation and removal charges can remain with the owner.
