Strip a Miele bagged canister down to the essentials and you get the Classic C1 Pure Suction: a 1200-watt PowerLine motor, a six-position rotary suction dial, a 4.8-quart HyClean GN bag, an AirClean exhaust filter and the SBD 365-3 floorhead, with an upholstery nozzle, dust brush and crevice nozzle in the box. Miele lists it at 12 pounds, with a 29-foot working radius on an 18-foot cord. It is the plain stainless saucepan set of the catalog: no coating, no gimmicks, and the one you end up cooking in every night while the fancy pieces sit in the cabinet.

- Your rooms are large or your outlets are scarce. The 29-foot radius is the shortest among the Miele canisters we sell; the Guard M1 and Guard L1 reach 36 feet.
- You want finer exhaust filtration. This model carries the standard AirClean filter; the Guard L1 AllFloor (AirClean Plus) and the Boost CX1 (HEPA AirClean) go further.

Shipping is free on orders of $75 or more to the contiguous U.S., and this machine qualifies. Most orders ship within 2 to 3 business days. If you decide against it, return a factory-sealed, unused machine within 30 days; the buyer pays return shipping. A machine that has been used is handled under Miele's warranty, and we will help you through it.

Which bags does the Classic C1 use?
Miele HyClean GN FilterBags, the 4.8-quart size. The GN bag is shared across the whole Classic C1 line, so it is the easiest Miele bag to find and the one we sell most of.
Can it handle carpet at all?
Low-pile rugs and runners, yes, with the SBD 365-3 in its carpet setting. Anything with real pile needs a brush roll, and that means a different package.
Why is the operating radius shorter than the Guard models?
The Classic C1 has an 18-foot cord against the Guard line's 24 feet, which gives it a 29-foot radius instead of 36. In a small house or an apartment you will not notice. In a big open floor plan you will.
How does it compare with the Guard M1 Terra Red?
Both have the SBD 365-3 floorhead and a 4.8-quart bag. The Guard M1 has the longer cord, a different body and the CO bag; the Classic C1 is lighter and has the six-setting rotary dial. Price aside, if you carry the vacuum up and down stairs, the C1 is the easier one to live with.
