On a fully carpeted raised ranch, an upright clears the floor the way a plow clears Route 44: in straight lines, fast, and without changing tools. These are SEBO's uprights, from the electronic Automatic X4, X7 and X8 to the manual Essential G4 and G5, the 300 and 350 Mechanical, and the compact Felix and Dart with the ET-1 powerhead.

How to choose

  • Automatic height (X4, X4 Boost, X7, X8) if you move between carpet piles and do not want to think about it; manual four-position height (G4, G5, 300, 350, Felix, Dart) if you prefer to set it once.
  • Width: 12 inches (X4, X7, G4, 300, Felix, Dart), 14 inches (350) or 15 inches (X8, G5). Wider is faster in open rooms and clumsier around furniture.
  • Felix and Dart can run without the powerhead attached, which makes them the uprights for a house that also has hardwood.

From the bench: The Automatic X's height sensor is the feature nobody notices and the reason the brush roller lasts. A roller set too low on a low-pile carpet is a belt waiting to slip.
