Seven pounds is the number to know about the Duoflex HX1, the lighter and simpler cordless in Miele's lineup, along with a Digital Efficiency Motor, two power levels on push buttons, and a MultiFloor electrobrush that adjusts its power on its own as it moves from tile to rug. This base package includes the HX-DB dust brush, the XL HX-UN upholstery nozzle and the HX-CN crevice nozzle on a 2500 mAh lithium-ion battery with Hygiene filters. Miele lists 55 minutes at the low setting without the electrobrush. It is the paring knife of the drawer: small, quick, always within reach, and not what you carve the roast with.

- You want more attachments in the box. The Duoflex HX1 Extra adds a flexible universal brush and the SpeedLock wall mount; the Total Care adds a hose, a long crevice nozzle and an Electro Compact brush.
- You are replacing the only vacuum in a house with carpet and a cellar full of dog hair. That is a canister job, and we would point you to the Guard or Classic C1 line before selling you this.

Orders of $75 and over ship free to the contiguous United States, and this one clears that easily; most orders leave within 2 to 3 business days. We accept returns within 30 days on factory-sealed, unused machines, buyer paying return shipping. If something goes wrong after you have used it, Miele's warranty applies and we handle the claim with Miele on your behalf.

How long does it run?
Miele publishes up to 55 minutes on the low power level without the electrobrush attached. With the electrobrush on, expect less; it is a daily-pass machine, not a whole-house one.
Is it a handheld as well as a stick?
Yes. The dust brush, upholstery nozzle and crevice nozzle attach to the power unit directly, which is how you do the car and the stairs.
What is the difference between the Duoflex and the Triflex?
The Triflex weighs 8 pounds, has a larger bin, an exchangeable battery and a PowerUnit that moves up and down the wand. The Duoflex is a pound lighter and simpler, with two power levels and a floorhead that adjusts itself.
Is it loud?
Miele rates it at 79 decibels, which is in line with other cordless sticks and louder than Miele's canisters. The Digital Efficiency Motor has a higher pitch than a canister motor, which is what people tend to notice.
