Miele Blizzard CX1 Pure Suction Bagless Canister Vacuum

The Blizzard CX1 Pure Suction (material no. 10829430) is the stripped-down, no-motor-in-the-head version of the bagless Blizzard: a two-liter dust container, a pair of floor tools, and nothing that spins on its own. If your house is mostly hardwood, tile or laminate with a few rugs that only need suction, you are paying for exactly what you use.

Is this the Blizzard for your floors?

Pick it for bare floors, for rugs whose maker allows straight suction, and for the everyday pet hair that sits on top of a surface. It will not agitate a thick carpet. Two floorheads, two jobs

The SBD 365-3 AllTeQ is a combination head for everyday floors, with a bristle setting you change to suit the surface. The SBB 300-3 Parquet Twister, with its soft natural bristles and a double swivel neck, is the gentler pick for appropriate hard floors. The upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle and dusting brush are built into the EcoComfort handle, so they ride along at the end of the hose instead of sitting in a drawer.

The four-stage rotary selector lets you turn suction down for fabric and for rugs that lift too easily. The canister has a park position for vacuuming breaks, a one-touch cord rewind, and a 21-foot cord and a 32-foot operating radius.

How the bagless side works

Coarse dirt lands in the main container and fine dust in its own chamber. Empty the container before the MAX mark, holding it over the waste bin so the dust stays put. ComfortClean cleans the fine-dust filter automatically when needed, and its button starts a cycle by hand. The manual asks you to empty and clean the fine-dust chamber once or twice a year, sooner if the warning signals a restriction.

Only the specified fine-dust filter surfaces are washable: cold water, no detergent, then a full 24 hours or more of drying before they go back in. This model's exhaust filter is a Hygiene lifetime filter, which is not rinsed.

Any safety habits? Switch off and unplug before clearing a hose blockage or cutting hair from a roller.

What about stairs and the closet? Set the canister on a stable surface and work the treads with the hose and a small tool; never pull it up by the hose. The body measures about 20 1/4 by 12 1/4 by 12 1/4 inches, and the listed 19 lb is the body alone, so pick up the whole assembly in person if carrying matters.

Warranty and service

Under Miele's current US household limited warranty this model is covered for 3 years, subject to its terms. Keep the receipt; normal wear and routine maintenance are not covered, and commercial use has its own terms.
